A Valley Treasure – Evergreen International Aviation, Part 1

July 22, 2009

Here’s looking at you kid!

To my way of thinking, one of the Valley’s most intriguing and innovative companies is Evergreen International Aviation. I began my career in technology working as an aviation electronics technician in the navy. I have spent many an enjoyable day visiting aviation and aerospace museums around the country as a pure tourist and as part of Robotics International’s Aerospace Committee. If you haven’t taken your family to Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville – you are missing a wonderful and educational experience.  It is small but one of the very best aviation museums.

Over the next few days I will outline some of the other very cool products and services of Evergreen Aviation, one of Oregon’s most innovative, diverse and successful companies. But, first in keeping with 40th anniversary of the first moon walk you should know that the museum’s IMAX theater is showing the below 3D feature.

Only 12 Have Walked On The moon. This Fall, You're Next!

Only 12 Have Walked On The moon. You're Next!

Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D

Presented and narrated by Tom Hanks, Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D will transport you to the lunar surface to walk alongside the 12 extraordinary astronauts who have been there to experience what they saw, heard, felt, thought and did.

Also as part of its educational mission the musuem is presenting an excellent, low cost – $20, all day workshop for teachers, see details below and links.

Dear Educators, You are invited to attend this one-of-a-kind educational workshop at the Evergreen Space Museum. Eleven workshop sessions will be provided throughout the day offering instruction from specialists in the field of aerospace education. Materials and information that help demonstrate math, science, and history concepts in the classroom will be provided.
